About us

Getting everyone on the water

We're a group of volunteers who want to share the joy of being on the River Tees with people who might not otherwise have the chance.

Our Wheelyboat has been specially designed with a bow door that lowers to form a ramp — giving easy, dignified roll-on, roll-off access for wheelchair users and anyone who finds steps difficult.

We run trips for people with any form of disability, physical or mental health, along with their friends, family or support workers. Whether you're a seasoned river-goer or have never been on the water, we'd love to have you with us.

What to expect

A relaxing, comfortable journey

Every trip is gentle and unhurried. Here's what you can look forward to.

Passengers enjoying a boat trip on the River Tees

One or two hours

A one-hour trip takes you upstream to Horseshoe Bend. On a two-hour trip you'll reach Preston Park — with a chance to disembark for a picnic or ice cream.

The River Tees with green banks, a calm and scenic waterway

Beautiful, calm river

The Tees between Stockton and Yarm is smooth and gentle — perfect for everyone, including those who might feel anxious about being on water for the first time.

Tees Wheelyboats crew members, trained volunteers in life jackets

Safe, skilled crew

Every trip has a Skipper and a crew member. Skippers hold the RYA Powerboat Level 2 licence (PBL2) and all crew are fully trained. Life jackets are provided for all passengers.

Booking a trip

Simple to book, no fuss

We'll do our best to fit around your schedule. Here's how it works.

Get in touch

Call us on 07748 908 646 or email teeswbbookings@gmail.com with your preferred date and time. We'll ask about your group size, any disability or access needs, and contact details, and get you booked in.

Complete your passenger list

Before your trip, we'll need a signed passenger list confirming you've read and agreed to our terms and conditions. You can complete this online or let us know by phone and we'll talk you through it.

Enjoy your trip!

Arrive at least 15 minutes before your trip at the River Tees Watersports Centre. We'll look after everything from there.

Being on the water can be soothing but can also awaken the senses to the sights and sounds of the river. We provide a relaxed and comfortable journey to improve our users' wellbeing.
